Student Orientation
New students are invited to attend Student
Orientation which provides a comprehensive introduction
to WINC, its people, and its services. The orientation session
includes a workshop on study skills, goal setting, and diversity
issues. Students meet faculty and staff, complete admission
requirements, choose electives and participate in a variety
of activities designed to help them have a smooth and successful
transition to college. This is followed by a Carousel, which
is a welcoming party for all new students hosted by senior
students of the college.
Second year students serve as Orientation Leaders
by helping new students become familiar with the
college premises and answering any questions that the new
students may have.

Student Activities
Students take part in activities by
joining various IITM Clubs such as:
Dance Club (Western and Eastern)
Debates Club for quizzes and debates, public speaking
Drama Club
Music Club
Sports Club
These clubs represent WINC at inter-collegiate events throughout
the academic year.
Student Ambassadors
WINC students sometimes get the opportunity to act as student
ambassadors, for example, at the Gulf Education and Training
Exhibition (GETEX) in April.
Study Groups
WINC encourages students to help each other in informal study
groups. If you are doing well in a subject, then find someone
who is doing less well and teach them – both of you
will improve your grades in this way. Likewise, if you are
not doing so well in a subject, find someone who is, and ask
them for help. Again, both of you will improve your grades.

1) Why I chose WINC?
I chose WINC with the specific intention of moving on to the UK after completing my degree. WINC not only offers an extremely prestigious degree by teaching according to LSE standards, it is also a great stepping stone for those looking to further their education in the UK. There are not many other opportunities in the UAE for what I needed so WINC was the perfect choice for me.
2) Best place to Study:
In the library and at home. In the library because it is more comfortable for group studying, and it is comfortable with getting all the books you need. At home because of the quiet, comfort and limitless time.
3) Best Thing about WINC
The opportunity it offers to those in the UAE with its degree. Whether you want to continue your studies in the UK or not, you will hold a UK degree having been taught by LSE standards. So, definitely, the degree that you get for all your efforts is the best thing about WINC, something that is rare in the UAE so also very valuable.
4) Why Students should come to WINC?
Other than the excellent degree in the end, students who are looking to go to the UK in the future have a very good chance if they study at WINC. WINC is also perfect for those who are interested in learning everything that LSE has to offer without actually being there. From this you can proudly say that you were an external student of one of the best universities in the world.

When asked how much educated men were superior to those uneducated, Aristotle answered, 'As much as the living is to the dead.'
When asked how much educated folks from LSE are superior to others, Emmanuel Israel an evening student answered “huh” (Just kidding)
1) Why I chose WINC:
As a working student, equipping myself with the best tools to face the increasingly complex world of finance and economics led me to their door step. Simply put, there is no other faculty that I have seen in this region who can combine a proper teaching syllabus with new analysis of ongoing information as it happens.
I would recommend WINC as a place to anyone who would like a solid foundation in his/her educational life. The point there is not to rote learn but to imbibe the qualities of critical thinking…question everything. My diploma in economics (completed in 2006) was not just a course in economics but a well rounded look at society and its interactions which expands your analytical focus at the bigger picture.
2) Faculty /Study habits:
The professors here are amazing with extensive knowledge on the subjects at hand. We even have our own Aristotle…Our Banking Professor Mr. Anastasio!! We do wear Greek robes and sit at his feet (metaphorically of course) focusing on the latest financial news whilst incorporating them with the syllabus. Here self discipline and time management should be your top priority. You are expected to have a high level of focus in the classroom and we do have a good time when class mates debate much to the amusement of the professors. The libraries are equipped with extensive materials for research. The exams are quite rigorous and it is expected for us to have a good command over a few thing not a little knowledge about a lot of things.
3) Facilities :
Students can take part in the various activities we have here such as the sports club and the music themes… I should warn you though, people are quite good at table tennis, and I was embarrassed a week ago by a fresher. Still haven’t forgiven him.
In conclusion, I am proud of the education here at WINC. Sometimes I don’t think we understand how good we have it here. The friendships I have nurtured are still an important part of my life. Which one of us will be the next Keynes, hicks or Pareto? I dunno but then the chapter isn’t finished yet now is it?

1) Why I chose WINC?
- I have always been quite overwhelmed by the British System of Education. So when it came to choosing a university I decided to opt for one, providing me the same. Where better could I have found that, besides WINC. WINC provides us with top quality education, being an external study programme the University of London and the London School of Economics and Political Science, which by itself,is ranked amongst the top three universities in UK. Apart from top notch education,WINC has provided me with a good college experience along with the excellent friends that I've been blessed with.I couldnt ask for more.
2) Best place to Study
- Within WINC,the best place to study is,I believe, the staircase opposite the library. Its peaceful, quiet and at the same time, due to the vast space, enables group studying along with fruitful group discussions.
3) Best Thing about WINC
- The best thing about WINC is its location. Located within Knowledge Village,WINC has universities like UOWD and SAE close by. As a result, college life becomes an extremely joyous experience, because, within RAK Campus, one could come up with a thousand ideas and never get bored. One could always hang out at the Manar Mall outlet or even spend time in the Food Court with numerous choices of delicious food outlets. These places are also extremely suitable places to carry out a study session.
4) Why Students should come to WINC?
-WINC is by far the best university in Dubai to offer the London School of Economics and Political Science programme. The programme is,in itself,a briliiant and unmatched one. Along with the numerous courses offered, the college experience that a student can get in WINC,is unequalled. All in all,the experience is a once in a lifetime experience and I ,for one, am extremely proud to be a part of this marvelling Institution of Education. |

1) Why did I choose WINC?
It is no secret that the course taught at WINC,academically directed by London School of Economics & Political Science(LSE), is perhaps one of the more challenging courses offered in the gulf region. This clause is detrimental enough for many prospective students to opt for slightly easier courses(with due respect to other universities), but it was this clause that inspired me to opt for this course as it ensures that I use my academic powess to the fullest potential.
One pivotal thing that my brother told me when I was in the finalizing process was that "If you do any other course, you will be at college for 3-4 years and get your degree easily. At LSE,at the completion of your course once you shall receive the UoL degree, you will feel that you have earned & deserved the degree."
That thought made my decision easier.
2) How the course has impacted me?
In a big way! Once you start getting acquainted to the LSE level of study, you will realize that the course is very comprehensive and requires you to be at your analytical best. Here you not only have to understand the theoretical concepts, but you have to be ready to apply & analyse its effects in real life situations.
This feature of the course prepares students to face the job market. It isn't a matter of chance that the degree value of UoL(LSE) is strong and LSE graduates are welcomed by employers.
Due to this course, now I can actually understand what is occuring in the economy and relate to the readings in the newspapers, lets say,the impact of inflation or fiscal stimulus or market expectations of certain variables on the economy & its implications. As I prepare to start my final year at college,I realize that friends from other colleges look up to me with a sense of awe which makes me proud of my decision to study at WINC.
3) Best moments of college life
Plenty!Plenty even to recollect! There have been wonderful times from being declared "an alien"(with affection) by Prof Ahnaf Abbas for scoring high marks in Math 1,to taking part in DIFF & meeting big celebrities,to reaching the semi-finals of the AUS Inter-College Debate Championship, to finishing runners-up at the B'Quizzed Quiz Competition. It is tough to rank the moments but one moment which is unparallel would be the time when I showed my movie to the entire college.
It goes like this!A friend from a film-making institution had to make a proper short film as an assignment. So,I was chosen as the protagonist(main lead). Once the movie was complete,I had arranged for everyone at college, from the faculty to all the students present to assemble at Keynes' Hall & got the movie screened. It was an absolute wonderful moment,a moment that one only dreams of! I thank God for making sure that such a moment actually materialized!
4) Anything that I would like to tell :
Life isn't easy! In life nothing worthwhile will be served on a plate. You have to take your chances & stick to your decisions.Never give up! If a situation gets tough on you or a path gets closed, don't give in. Keep trying and eventually your goal will be met.Always remember, when one door closes, another door opens!A thought that gets me pumped up is " If someone else can do it,there is no reason why I can't! "
To round off,I wish everyone 'All the very Best' in life & hope that all of your dreams come true as mine keep coming true at WINC!
